We will leave from the Burpee Museum parking lot at the appointed time. The tour will last about 1 hour.
Anyone who would like to learn more about how the movement to Save Bell Bowl Prairie came about, hear a perspective from a host, and who wish to see where the prairie is located can join a hosted one-hour bus tour with narration and conversation. TOUR INFORMATION
Many people have a hard time visualizing the magnitude of the development at the airport and the tiny prairie in the middle. These short tours are offered to help people see the big picture and some of the small print. Advocates of Bell Bowl are unlikely to be permitted access to the prairie or even to the RVC parking lot above, because for almost a week now, access to the prairie has been closed to unauthorized visitors. Security guards are posted at the intersection of Beltline and Cessna Drive. The narrated tour takes you close to the epicenter of this challenging moment.
Here's what you will see:
At the QUARRY 1/3 mile from the prairie,
NEARLY A MILLION CUBIC YARDS OF GRAVEL is stockpiled,
the amount needed to fill the bowl.
UPS and Amazon Prime
DOMINATE THE WESTERN PERIMETER OF THE AIRPORT,
necessitating growth to the east.
SEVERAL BULLDOZERS & BACKHOES have been busy these last few weeks
CARVING THE NEW MAIN ACCESS ROAD
that will slice thru the prairie from top and bottom.
The TWO MASSIVE ARR HANGARS where RVC certified grads will do maintenance on any of the THIRTY TO FIFTY JUMBO JETS PER NIGHT that need repair.
Tour narrators Don Miller (M), Jim Roberts (T) and Zach Grycan (W) as your hosts will share their perspectives and answer questions as we go.
Kervin B. Thomas, videographer is filming during these tours as part of a documentary of this catastrophe.
